Hello everyone. I am new to this place. Came here to learn. Currently I am a greenhorn. Can you suggest anything Ii can read up on so I can avoid posting dumb questions in the forum? Are there any tutorials in the forum? I’ve seen that there are some solution postings but I’d rather not spoil the fun.

It is all up to (your) knowledge and also up to the topic. Some languages like HTML could be good to be known, maybe some general understanding on how a computer works ;)

Welcome, enjoy your stay with us!

Don’t be afraid of asking questions we all started somewhere if you are stuck on a level there are a lot of hints in the forum to help you out.

There is some very good read depending on what you wanna focus your knowledge, even tho HackThis!! is focused on web hack, so learning HTML5, CSS3 and basic JavaScript will be a must-have.

Here are a few links I would have liked to have when I started (and still useful now). :)

Thanks for the advice and warm welcome.
I already have some knowledge of HTML CSS and Javascript, as well as Python some C and very basic stuff about ajax jquery and servers. None of it from the perspective of security and integrity. I just recently finished a website for a school project and this is what got me thinking about the security aspect. During the past semester course we briefly touched on security and encryption, but only from a high level.
Anyway thanks again.

HTML is not a language, is just a balising a web page, but javascript or python are easily to learn and progress faster mostly in hacking for python. Language C and C++ are hard to learn for begin.

better than “a balising a web page”, you can say “it’s a Markup Language” ( as HTML = HyperText Markup Language )

And just as he said, C & C++ would be very tricky to be learnt by a beginner, you better learn how algorithm work with some “user-friendly” programing language as Python
