Am i overthinking?

i’ve found the hashed logins info, i managed to bruteforce the usernames by understanding the source code, but the password should be 8 chars long, which makes it almost impossible to brutefoce. Is it the right way to do this level or am i overthinking here?

i’ve found this url: http://simplythebest.net/scripts/DHTML_scripts/.
the source code tells that the code was taken from there, but when entering this url, it says 404 not exists.
Is it the way it should be?
