How to setup a www server on my computer

Hi, I’ve been browsing through the internet for a HOLE day and I couldn’t manage to setup a web server.

Maybe you can tell me a site/video in which is well explained or you can explain it step by step here.

I’m using a livebox (orange) router, if you need more info you can ask it here or pm me :)

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install apacha2

Then tell your firewall to let people access “your computer” by the port no.80

The website or anything you want should be in /var/www/html

I hope my memory is good enough to help you, so many years on ubuntu :p

If it doesn’t work, just search on google “setup web server ubuntu your_ubuntu_version_here”

All this I already did it, but I want to access my computer from outside the network.

So for this I need to do some configurations on my router…

And thats the problem

OK done, sorry already found the solution.
Shall I write an article so people who want to setup a server feels much more comfortable, is strange nobody has done that on this site…

Oh, I don’t know.
I just downloaded a program called ngrok, which creates a domain, and magically my files which are inside /var/www/html/

Are on the internet!

No, was because I couldn’t complete a GoogleCTF challenge because I hadn’t a webserver, so, so I don’t forget again, I configure it before starting other CTF. xD

Install AMPPS / XAMPP / WAMP server available in different platforms depending on your need

What you’re talking about aren’t servers, there are package. For example, WAMP stands for Windows Apache (the actual web server) MySQL PHP. If you only need a web server, just download Apache.
